Just two cheeky London house panthers...

Welcome to the lives of Alfie Pops and Betty Betty; two cheeky London house panthers challenging the black cat stereotype and spreading black cat love and black cat good luck wherever they can!

Hmmm, where do we begin? Well, it all started in 2020 with a group we created on Facebook called It's A Black Cat Thing 🤍; a beautiful little community with no spammers, scammers, or trolls; specifically for black and tuxedo cats and their amazing owners. But then we started to clog up the group feed with so many photos of Alfie and Betty, lol; it just made sense for us to have our own Facebook page.

That was back in 2021, and now we use our page not only to blog about our lives but to promote black cat awareness and help lift the stigma of being evil, bad luck, and bad in photos, which still plagues black cats today.

Enough about that, now meet the stars...

Meet Alfie

Alfie Pops is our big green eyed baby. Not long after Meowmy's almost 21 year old one eyed white cat Murphy passed (bless his soul), she was sent a photo of baby Alf saying he needed a home. Alf was originally called "Midnight" but after racing across London in the blistering heat on the famous Underground, we got him and named him Alfie. He can be quite feisty at times! He'll give you a little nip if you annoy him and he has so much back chat when being told off he could have his own Nickelodeon show! BUT, he is the sweetest soul, a huge snuggle bug and the best nurse maid if you become ill.

Nicknames: Pops, Alfie Pops, Mr Stretchy Legs

Birthday: 1st April 2018

Likes: Sunbathing, fancy collars, Daddy's feet, and eating ham.

Dislikes: Most human food, strangers, knocks at the door, loud noises.

Meet Betty

Our sweet girl Betty Betty, what can we say? So nice we named her twice! She is so gentle, so loving and will only hurt a fly; she's an expert sky raisin catcher! We came across Betty (originally named Baby Black Girl 1) and her brother while looking for a companion for Alf and it was like a match made in heaven. Her brother was NOT interested in us at all but that was ok because we could only have one kitten and Betty took to us from the off. She has a sassy nature but underneath it all she is so funny and so loving. Alfie and Betty took to each other almost instantly and the rest is history.

Nicknames: Betts, Betty Betty, Betty Betty Bean, Tiny

Birthday: 24th January 2020

Likes: Eating, catnip, playing with Meowmy, Daddy and Alfie.

Dislikes: Being bored, not being allowed on the tops of windows when they are open.

Black cats around the world are still seen by some as bad luck and evil, and they are often overlooked in litters and shelters for not being photogenic enough. Let's change that!

BLACK CATS ARE NOT BAD LUCK OR EVIL. They even look great in photos!!
